This article was originally published in 2019, when Canadian Amex Platinum Cardmembers could use a series of hotel status matches to work their way from Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status to Wyndham Rewards Diamond and ultimately Caesars Rewards Diamond.
- 2x points on food & drinks
- 2x points on travel
- 1x points on everything else
Unfortunately, that travel hack no longer works.
Amex Platinum Cardmembers can still enrol in complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status. When Wyndham Rewards hotel status matches are available, Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite has historically matched to Wyndham Rewards Diamond.
The problem is the final step. Caesars Rewards now requires eligible Wyndham Platinum or Diamond status to have been earned through qualifying Wyndham activity. Wyndham status received through another program’s status match does not qualify.
That closes the old Amex Platinum > Marriott Bonvoy Gold > Wyndham Diamond > Caesars Diamond status-match loop.
The Amex Gold Rewards Card also no longer provides the Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status used in the original version of this strategy, so this article now focuses on the Platinum Card.

What Does Caesars Rewards Diamond Include Today?
Although the Amex status-match shortcut no longer works, Caesars Rewards Diamond status still comes with valuable benefits.
Current Diamond benefits include:
- No resort fees at participating Caesars Rewards destinations
- A $100 Celebration Dinner
- Priority lines at hotel check-in, restaurants, casino cashiers and Caesars Rewards Centers
- Complimentary early check-in and late check-out, based on availability
- A 20% discount at casino gift shops
- Paid access to the Laurel Lounge, where available
- A complimentary stay offer at Atlantis, Paradise Island in The Bahamas
- Up to 20% off select Norwegian Cruise Line vacations
There is an important restriction if you legitimately match Wyndham Rewards Diamond status to Caesars Rewards Diamond: Caesars currently requires members upgraded to Diamond from Wyndham to earn 100 Tier Credits before qualifying for the $100 Celebration Dinner.
Caesars Rewards benefits and requirements can change, so check the current Caesars Rewards benefits before planning a trip around a specific perk.
How the Old Amex Platinum to Caesars Diamond Status Match Worked
When this article was originally published, the strategy involved three separate loyalty programs.
Step 1: Amex Platinum to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite
The Platinum Card includes complimentary enrolment in Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status.
This part of the strategy still exists today. Platinum Cardmembers can enrol in Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status without completing the normal qualifying-night requirement.
Step 2: Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite to Wyndham Rewards Diamond
Wyndham Rewards has periodically offered hotel status matches where Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite maps to Wyndham Rewards Diamond.
However, status matching is not always available. Wyndham’s Canadian status-match page may temporarily close new applications, so you need to check the current Wyndham Rewards status-match page before assuming you can complete this step.
Step 3: Wyndham Rewards Diamond to Caesars Rewards Diamond
This is where the old strategy no longer works.
Caesars now requires Wyndham Rewards Platinum or Diamond status used for a Caesars status match to have been earned through qualifying Wyndham activity. Caesars specifically excludes Wyndham status obtained through another loyalty program’s tier-match promotion.
In other words, matching Amex Platinum’s Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status to Wyndham Diamond does not give you an eligible Wyndham Diamond status that you can then match to Caesars Diamond.
Can Amex Platinum Still Get You Caesars Diamond Status?
Not through this status-match strategy.
The Platinum Card can still give you Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status, but there is no longer a direct path from that complimentary hotel status to Caesars Rewards Diamond.
To match Wyndham Diamond to Caesars Diamond today, you generally need Wyndham status that meets Caesars’ qualifying earning requirements rather than status obtained through another hotel program’s status match.
How Do I Use My Caesars Rewards Benefits?
If you already have Caesars Rewards status, visit a Caesars Rewards Center at a participating destination with valid photo ID to verify your account and obtain your Caesars Rewards card.
The benefits available to you depend on your current Caesars Rewards Tier Status. Check your Caesars Rewards account and the current benefits guide before your trip, since individual benefits and redemption requirements can change.
Can Caesars Rewards Diamond Members Access Laurel Lounges?
Caesars currently lists paid Laurel Lounge access, where available, as a Diamond benefit.
Complimentary Laurel Lounge access begins at Diamond Plus, which requires 25,000+ Tier Credits.
It’s also important to distinguish between Tier Status and Tier Credits. Receiving Diamond status through an eligible status match does not mean Caesars deposits 15,000 Tier Credits into your account.

What Happened to the Complimentary Atlantis Stay?
The Atlantis benefit itself still exists. What disappeared was the Amex Platinum shortcut that made Caesars Rewards Diamond status so easy to obtain.
Caesars Rewards currently includes an Atlantis, Paradise Island benefit for Diamond members. The exact package changes depending on the benefit year and travel dates, so it isn’t always simply a four-night complimentary stay.
For the current 2026 benefit year, Caesars offers Diamond members complimentary four-night stays in The Coral during certain months, while some other travel periods use a buy-two-nights, get-two-nights complimentary structure.
There are also important conditions that didn’t receive enough attention in the original version of this travel hack. Caesars currently states that guests using the complimentary Atlantis offer must complete four hours of rated slot or table casino play. If that requirement isn’t met, the guest can be charged the retail value of the package.
Airfare is not included, and room taxes, resort fees, housekeeping gratuities and other charges may still apply unless the specific package says they are complimentary.
The important distinction is that this is a Caesars Rewards benefit, not an Amex Platinum benefit. Amex Platinum once provided the first step in a status-match chain that made Caesars Diamond accessible, but that loophole is now closed.
If you already hold Caesars Rewards Diamond status through an eligible method, check the current Atlantis package directly with Caesars before booking because offers, travel periods and conditions can change.

The original Amex Platinum to Caesars Diamond status-match trick was a great travel hack while it lasted, but the key Wyndham-to-Caesars step has now been closed.
The Platinum Card still provides Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status, and Caesars Rewards Diamond still offers valuable Las Vegas and Atlantis benefits. You just can no longer connect the two through the old status-match chain.
If Caesars or Wyndham changes the eligibility rules again, we’ll update this guide.

Will this work with Hilton honor gold status? If it is then it could be a possible double dip.
