New Fairmont Vancouver Airport Gold Floor In 10 Photos
While a full review will be following shortly, I wanted to share my initial thoughts and some photos from our stay in the brand new Fairmont Vancouver Airport Gold Floor King Room.
To be honest, I was excited, and a bit nervous. The old Fairmont Gold Floor was close to perfect in my opinion, with comfortable guest rooms and phenomenal customer service. Improving on a great product can always be challenging, though I’m relieved to share they really exceeded all of my expectations.
New Fairmont Vancouver Airport Gold Floor Lounge
The reception area on the Gold Floor is completely unrecognizable, with a new open check-in counter that reminds me of a luxury retail store. All of the staff were available during our check-in, with the General Manager Patrick Gosselin available for a personal tour and champagne welcome!
The lounge itself has been completely renovated, with a new check-in space and a completely redesigned food/beverage area. The seating being offered now is temporary, though I’m told the final product will be available no later than June 20, 2018. The new white marble is stunning, and I love the contrast with the dark wood cupboards. Expect an updated review once all of the permanent furniture and art is brought in!
New Fairmont Vancouver Airport Gold Floor Room
The room features mostly cosmetic upgrades, with the bathroom remaining relatively unchanged (though the bathrooms here have always been ahead of their time with deep-soaking jacuzzi tubs with separate walk-in shower and partitioned toilet). The guest rooms feature many updates, including new furniture, television, and bed. Everything looks clean, contemporary and very fitting with the Vancouver surroundings.
The bathrooms remain relatively unchanged, though I consider that a good thing with the deep-soaking jacuzzi tubs, huge walk-in shower, and separate water closet.
The pet amenities provided were above and beyond, with two beds for our dogs Margo and Rocco (with labelled bowls) and individual scarves for them to take home! That. Is. Impressive!
New Fairmont Vancouver Airport Gold Floor Bottom Line
In a word, I’m impressed. The Fairmont Vancouver Airport Gold Floor has always embraced the ‘hotel within a hotel’ concept, and they’ve taken it to a new level with the new renovation.
The reception area is simply stunning, and sets the bar for what to expect during your stay. Considering it was the first night open, and as such is in somewhat of a ‘soft launch’ mode, I was expecting there to be some hiccups. But nope, not one.
Be sure to check back for the full review, including the room and lounge!
