Both the personal Marriott Bonvoy and Marriott Bonvoy Business Cards saw changes to the welcome bonuses on March 9, 2022.
Marriott Bonvoy Card Canada Welcome Bonus
On the personal Bonvoy Card, the welcome bonus dipped from 70,000 to 65,000 Bonvoy points, but now also includes a $100 statement credit.
Other than the huge welcome bonus of 105,000 Bonvoy points we saw on the Bonvoy Card last summer, the Card generally offers a welcome bonus between 50,000-70,000 points.
Right now it is at 65,000 points, so it’s still a solid time to apply. Part of the welcome bonus is a $100 statement credit, which essentially brings the annual fee down from $120 to just $20.
$20 for 65,000 Marriott Bonvoy points is of course excellent value.

The Business Bonvoy Card took a much bigger hit, with the welcome bonus dropping substantially from 85,000 to 65,000 points.
As with the personal Card, a $100 statement credit is also part of the welcome bonus which essentially drops the annual fee on the first year from $150 down to $50.
The key difference with the Business Bonvoy Card is that it offers employee Card use protection.
Both Cards skyrocketed up to 105,000 points last summer, but it may be a while (if ever) we see that offer again.
Generally the Business Bonvoy Card offers between 50,000-85,000 points so the current welcome bonus of 65,000 points is about average.
