Both the personal Gold Rewards and Gold Rewards Business Cards saw changes on March 18, 2022.
Gold Rewards Card Canada Welcome Bonus
Good news! The welcome bonus on the personal Gold Rewards Card Canada has increased from 50,000 to 70,000 points. The last update to this Card was in September, 2021.
Here’s how to earn the welcome bonus:
- Earn a Welcome Bonus of 50,000 points when you charge $3,000 in purchases to your Card in your first 3 months. Offer ends May 11, 2022.
- You can also earn a total of 10 points for every $1 on eligible travel purchases for the first 6 months (up to 20,000 points). Offer ends May 11, 2022.
You’ll earn 2 points for every $1 in Card purchases at eligible gas stations, grocery stores and drugstores in Canada, and 1 point for every $1 in Card purchases everywhere else.

Business Gold Rewards Card Canada Changes
The Business Gold Rewards Card Canada welcome bonus has stayed at 110,000 points with this March, 18, 2022 update:
- You’ll earn a welcome bonus of 70,000 points after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months.
- Plus you’ll earn 10,000 bonus points, when you charge $20,000 to your Card account each calendar quarter. That’s a total of up to 40,000 points every year.
However, the Card has changed from a Charge Card where the balance must be paid in full each month, to “a Card with no pre-set spending limit”. As a result, the interest rate has changed to 19.99%. Even though the definition of this Card has changed, it shouldn’t change your spending habits. Carrying a balance on a travel rewards Card and paying interest fees will eat away at your travel points and is not advised.
